We can recommend local caterers for the wedding itself and any celebrations before and after, depending on your preferences and budget. Anything from a laid back hog-roast to an impeccable Michelin starred feast.
For the wedding party we have the beautifully furnished Riverside Apartment with three bedrooms that sleeps six and the Boathouse apartment that can sleep up to four. We can also offer six double bedrooms in the main house sleeping a further twelve guests, with additional beds available if required, to accomodate up to sixteen comfortably. We can also recommend further accommodation within easy walking distance at favourable rates and there are many other boarding options just a short drive away.
Built on the site of an ancient priory, the property has been extended over the centuries into the classic Charentais manor house of mellow stone and elegant proportions that it is today. Set at the end of a driveway of mature trees it is surrounded by 14 acres of walled gardens and a parkland of over 350 exotic and indigenous trees. Located on the banks of the Charente river, it is in the heart of the highly picturesque village of Bourg Charente. With wonderful views to all sides, it forms a perfect oasis for joyful celebrations of all kinds
For your more active guests there is paddle boarding and kayaking on the Charente, and an excellent golf course just outside the village. Visits to the historic cognac houses nearby are highly recommended as are visits to the wonderful oyster beds on the Atlantic coast and for beach lovers there are splendid wide sandy beaches that go on for miles. For the gastronomically inclined there are many excellent restaurants in the area, including a Michelin starred restaurant in the village itself. Or you can simply stroll around the lovely grounds, have a game of croquet and unwind by the eighteen metre swimming pool.
